The photo works quite well in expressing the concept, although the presence of well discernable anthropic objects (the flags and the fountain) may spoil a bit the sense of distance; also, the tree branches on the foreground have a rather central role and physically block the viewer from seeing what's in the distance.
Technique requires some improvement, both on a stylistical and expressive level: while the horizon is defintely crooked (albeit not enough to assume it was done on purpose) and should be fixed, having the line above the middle of the photo would have amplified the sense of distance, as the waterscape would not have been countered by the sky.
Nevertheless, the photo shows a cool view of a beautiful place with a lovely colour match. Also, it's a nice caption of the clouds and their reflection on the water, which do actually cast the viewer "off in the distance".
